About Gold Star Classroom
You say you love trivia? Then you may know, who said, “If you build it, they will come?” A famous sports movie? Wrong! (That’s a misquote, the movie line is: “If you build it, he will come.”) Theodore Roosevelt perhaps? INCORRECT! Some wags on the Internet seem to think so, but in fact what the 26th president actually said was: “We must build the Isthmian Canal.” The quote has been associated with the story of Noah, supposedly the God of the Old Testament admonished Noah to build an arc and the animals will come. Sadly, no such exact quote exits anywhere in Genesis. There is even an ancient Latin phrase, “Si tu id aeficas, ei venient,” but this phrase has no clear origin. If you were a student in my class, or a guest on this podcast, your grade would be plummeting from wretched to distraught! Unless of course you knew the correct answer: nobody said it!
Well, this badly abused phrase nonetheless inspired us to create a podcast we liked, and have faith that YOU would come. And what we like is comedy, and what we like is educating ourselves. And, what we like is hanging out with interesting people and having a good time. So—here it is, a podcast that does all that!! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do—and remember, nobody likes a smarty-pants!
